Morgan Taylor Cinderella Collection Swatches & Review

Press Sample

You know that old saying, 'If the shoe fits...' Well, there is no more fitting story for that saying than the age old tale of Cinderella! For most of my adult life, I've been pining for a certain item of Cinderella's attire. No, no, not the glass slippers...the black flats she wears while in 'rags'! I have yet to find the perfect pair of dainty black slippers, despite my numerous attempts! Is this a weird thing to lust after? I mean, it's a just cartoon pair of shoes, right?!

Who doesn't love the story of Cinderella? It's been made into animated movies, told in different ways (Ever After & Into the Woods, to name a couple), and now it's being made into a live action movie! To celebrate the release of this new movie, Disney and Morgan Taylor have partnered up to create a Cinderella nail polish collection, which is available in March! I have my swatches and review of the collection here for you today!

In the nail art above, I used Ella of a Girl and Watch Your Step, Sisters! from this collection along with Morgan Taylor Prettier in Pink for the shading on the wax embossing with the glass slipper from the 'You're Invited' image.

Morgan Taylor Best Ball Gown Ever

Soft lavender with gold shimmer

One of my favorites of this collection, I immediately put it on right after I took it out of the box! Depending how you look at it, it can be a deep periwinkle or a silvery lavender, but always with a golden shimmer. On occasion you can see a rosy glow to it as well, which you can see in the bottle shot above.

Opacity scale (1-5): 2

Finish: Shimmer, 2-3 coats to be opaque

Morgan Taylor If the Slipper Fits

Icy grey-blue with LOADS of glitter!

As you can see from the bottle shot above, there is tons and tons of glitter in this polish ranging from super small to holographic hexagonal glitter. Because of this, without a topcoat, this is a somewhat textured polish, though not in the traditional 'textured' way. This polish is like they captured Cinderella's transformation and the magical sparkles from the fairy godmother's wand into a bottle!

Opacity scale (1-5): 1.5

Finish: Glitter, 3 coats to be opaque

Morgan Taylor Ella of a Girl

Classic pink creme

I definitely need to go back and re-watch the movie, because I was trying to figure out where this color fit in...then it dawned on me. Her dress! The one that Gus Gus and the other creatures helped make her! This and Watch Your Step, Sister! are definitely reminiscent of the two colors of pink in her dress!

Opacity scale (1-5): 3.5

Finish: Creme, 2 coats to be opaque

Morgan Taylor My Carriage Awaits

Coral with shimmer

This polish surprised me, I didn't notice the shimmer in the bottle, but when I got it on the nail it was very obvious! I couldn't seem to capture it well in the photos though, sadly. It's definitely subtle, but it adds a little something that brought this from a 'normal' polish to something much more!

Opacity scale (1-5): 3

Finish: Shimmer, 2-3 coats to be opaque

Morgan Taylor Watch Your Step, Sister!

Vibrant pink

Definitely another color that is reminiscent of the 'critter' dress! I actually really liked this one, even though it's not terribly extraordinary colorwise  It applied really well, had great pigmentation, and I liked it against my skin tone.

Opacity scale (1-5): 4

Finish: Satin, 2 coats to be opaque

Morgan Taylor Party at the Palace

Bright aqua with flakes of awesome

This was my other favorite of the collection! It's such a bright, springy color, not to mention, it has small flakes and shimmer in it that give a bit of a golden sheen! SO pretty and applied really well!

Opacity scale (1-5): 3

Finish: Flake, 2-3 coats to be opaque

So what do you think... did any of these fit you like a glass slipper? I definitely have my favorites, but what are yours? Tell me in the comments below!

Girlish Flourish

 Press Sample

Despite all the crazy colors I love to wear, I find that I'm ALWAYS drawn to great neutrals. Needless to say, when the new Morgan Taylor Enchantment Fall 2014 collection showed up, I was SUPER excited!! It consists of 4 neutral-ish and 2 glitter shades. For today's manicure, I did an uncharacteristically feminine design using two of the shades from the collection, Simply Spellbound and Magician's Assistant. I absolutely ADORE the subtle shimmer found in Magician's Assistant. It's, dare I say, MAGIC?!

At first glance, this manicure is a subtly feminine design, and, if I'm being honest, it is at second and third glance, too. However, it just has something when you see it in person that makes you keep looking back to it- that must be the 'magic' that they refer to in the polish name...and it is definitely enchanting! You can see the glowy shimmer in the picture above in the bottle (in person you see it on the nail!). I'm generally not one for soft feminine colors, but I think this is my favorite of the collection! (Swatches to come!)

For this manicure I used:

Morgan Taylor Need for Speed Top Coat
Morgan Taylor Simply Spellbound
Morgan Taylor Magician's Assistant
Morgan Taylor Stick With It Base Coat

Point Taken!

Press Sample

It's spring. Seriously, in Michigan today I am able to go outside WITHOUT A COAT! How exciting, right?! I have to say, I'm super stoked about slightly warmer days and well, the lack of snow. I can't wait to be able to play outside with Homer and take his energetic little white butt for walks.

Today, to celebrate a day above freezing, I decided to do some quick nail art using some nail polishes from the Morgan Taylor nail polish line. It's very simple, but it makes me think of pools and bright sunshiny days!

To achieve this look, I simply painted my nail with Morgan Taylor Water Baby and then used tape to mask off where I didn't want the turquoise to go, then painted with Morgan Taylor West Coast Cool. Remove the tape, add topcoat and done! :-D

I used:

Light Blue: Morgan Taylor Water Baby
Turquoise: Morgan Taylor West Coast Cool

Basecoat: Morgan Taylor Stick With It basecoat
Topcoat: Morgan Taylor Need for Speed topcoat

What do you think? Does this nail art feel like Spring? What are you painting for spring? Tell me in the comments below!

Morgan Taylor nail polishes, as always, are free of formaldehyde, toluene, and dibutyl phthalate and can be purchased at loxabeauty.com for $8.50.

Morgan Taylor Glam Rock Swatches & Review

Morgan Taylor Glam Rock nail art

My first introduction to Morgan Taylor was this past summer at Cosmoprof, and man, what a color selection! Today's post is a review of their Winter 2014 collection–Glam Rock. These are colors fit for a punk rock princess; silver, black, duochrome, it has a little everything for the chic girl on the go! Most of the colors are pretty pigmented, and the ones that aren't build very nicely!

Check out my photos and review after the jump!

Morgan Taylor Glam Rock Polished Up Punk swatch

Morgan Taylor Glam Rock Polished Up Punk swatch 2

Morgan Taylor Polished Up Punk

Rich navy blue creme

Rich and pigmented, this polish was a dream to apply! As you can see by my index finger, This polish pretty darn opaque, and I didn't have any staining like I have in the past with blues like this.

Opacity scale (1-5): 4

Finish: Creme, 2 coats to be opaque

Morgan Taylor Pretty Wild

Purple-toned greige

Another pigmented one, this polish is a chic take on neutral! The more cremes from this brand I try, the more impressed I am. This color makes me think of a snuggly cashmere sweater for some reason.

Opacity scale (1-5): 4

Finish: Creme, 2 coats to be opaque

Morgan Taylor Little Misfit

Lavender to Green Duochrome

OK, so this one is sheer. Really sheer. However, it builds to a beautiful pearly color that I have to admit that I was expecting to like so much. I really like this color! Look at that bottle shot, he duochrome is pretty, right?

Opacity scale (1-5): 1.5

Finish: Duochrome, 3-4 coats to be opaque

Morgan Taylor Rebel With a Cause

Deep berry with red and purple shimmer

If you've been reading this blog for a while, you already know that red/wine/pink polishes aren't really my bag. I like them on others, just not on me. While this color falls in that category it's actually a pretty cool color. The purple and red shimmer sets it off and makes it something different (and better) than just your average berry-colored polish.

Opacity scale (1-5): 3

Finish: Shimmer, 2 coats to be opaque

Morgan Taylor Studs and Stilettos

Black jelly base with silver glitter

This one was fairly sheer too, but built really nicely. Shown is 3 coats but I very likely could have gotten away with 2. Very Glam Rock! Looks like granite from a distance.

Opacity scale (1-5): 1.5

Finish: Glitter, 2-3 coats to be opaque

Morgan Taylor Better in Leather

Black with large and smell silver hex glitter

I like this one. I like the feel of a jelly without the visible nail line, and I feel like you get that with this polish! Kinda rad, right? Makes me think of a jelly sandwich manicure. The best part? Only two coats to be opaque.

Opacity scale (1-5): 2

Finish: Glitter, 2 coats to be opaque

So what do you think? Is Glam Rock music to your...nails? Tell me in the comments below!
